School has started and we are back to the same routine of waking up early, getting ready for the day and making sure we have a fast yet nutritious and delicious desayuno.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and in my house, one of our favorite breakfasts on weekday mornings are Kellogg’s® Eggo® Waffles, ( My daughter loves waffles)I top them off with our favorite fruit compote y listo!
Fruit compote is another word for fruit sauce and this one is very simple and perfect for the Fall since it is made with apples and cinnamon; we also add toasted walnuts for added protein.
This recipe is really fast but if you prefer, you can prepare the compote the night before and save in the refrigerator for the next day. You can just reheat it in the microwave for about 30 seconds before serving for a quick, warm and delicious topping for your favorite Waffles.
For the compote I use Granny Smith Apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter and a little bit of lemon juice; Bien fácil, verdad? And of course Kellogg’s® Eggo® Waffles which I found at my local Target. By the way, be sure to check out Kellog’s Back to School packaging and great on-pack offers at Target!
TIP: Make the compote in advance and place in a container; let it cool completely before covering and placing in the refrigerator.
