When it comes to Summer gatherings, I like to make refreshing and easy drinks (of course with a Latin twist!) to share with my family and friends. Not too long ago I learned about this recipe call “Tinto de Verano” which is a wine-based cold drink similar to sangria and is very popular in Spain. The Spanish name of “Tinto de Verano” translate to Red Wine of Summer and as the name says it is perfect for the summertime.
Although, this recipe is similar to sangria, there are fewer ingredients in this wine-based drink; making it much easy to prepare. All you need is a good red wine such as Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, lemon-lime soda and a couple of slices of lemon or lime for garnish. For this recipe I chose Sutter Home Merlot, which is perfect for this recipe since Sutter Home is the go to wine for all summer entertaining needs. This recipe is easy to make and your amigos (friends) will love it!
Recipe of Tinto de Verano for one person:
- ½ cup Sutter Home red wine such as Cabernet or Merlot.
- ½ cup of lemon-lime soda
- lemon or lime slices for garnish
- Ice cubes
Place a couple of ice cubes in a glass, add 1/2 a cup of Sutter Home red wine and 1/2 a cup of lemon-lime soda. Garnish with lemon or lime slices.
